It’s no secret that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is chock full of mysterious and magical creatures and animals. Most of us, as children and even as adults, have been awed by the many different types of amazing beasts throughout the franchise’s books and movies. The books created an a worldwide phenomenon, literally breaking records all over the world, due to its popularity. In fact the books have been translated into more than 80 languages. There’s no doubt that this story has had a major impact on possibly billions of people.
When the books were first published and we were first beginning to get a preview of JK Rowling’s imagination, way back in 1997, we had no idea what more was to come (but we knew we liked it and we knew that we wanted more). It didn’t matter if we were reading it in English, Spanish, Chinese, or Afrikaans (did you know Buckbeak in Afrikaans in Bokbok?) we were all hooked from the start.
While most of us were introduced to these fantastical characters when we were younger, it’s probably been a while since you’ve reread the stories. When going back through all the novels, or even rewatching the movies, some may find themselves finding or learning about new creatures or remembering ones that they may have missed previously or completely forgotten about.
Whether you’re in need of a quick getaway on a thestral or some unicorn blood, you can rest assured that the magical creatures of Harry Potter and of Hogwarts will come to the rescue. Or at least be there to provide some entertainment (remember the acromantula in the tap-dancing shoes?).
